Field update: On the ground in Minnesota

I just got back from being on the ground in Minnesota, where earlier this year the state legislature passed an anti-gay constitutional amendment banning marriage for gay and lesbian couples. The good news is that the people of Minnesota will have the chance to vote down this hurtful law in November of 2012 - and a powerful coalition, Minnesotans United for All Families, has already started doing the crucial work it will take to win.
Over the next 14 months, Minnesotans will be making history. They will be on the phones. They will be knocking on doors. They will be having conversations with voters in every part of the state about why marriage matters to gay and lesbian couples. And they can't do it alone.
Freedom to Marry is proud to be a leading member of the Minnesotans United for All Families coalition. Over the next year, we will invest staff time and resources to engage our members and thousands of other fair-minded voters across the state to take action to defeat the amendment.
On September 13th, the first of 13 Community Action Trainings was held in Minneapolis and 12 more will be happening throughout the state over the next month. To sign-up for the one closest to you, click here.
