Ask Congress to Repeal DOMA
Our victories at the state level have made it possible for thousands of same-sex couples to legally marry, but they are still discriminated against by the federal government because of the so-called “Defense of Marriage Act” (“DOMA”). DOMA excludes same-sex couples from the more than one thousand federal responsibilities and protections of marriage and from the common law tradition that a valid marriage in one state is recognized by all others. Couples in a committed and loving relationship doing the work of marriage should have the freedom to marry under the law, with the same rules, same responsibilities, and same respect. Tell your members of Congress how DOMA hurts same-sex couples and their families.
